PURPOSE OF PROJECT

The project aims to market a reliable lighting solution for the rural market of India, where the availability of power is both erratic and of shorter duration. This packaging utilizes only recycled paper and provides consumers with updated information through modern graphics to address this issue. For the packaging, a sub-brand is created called "Jeevan Jyoti," which directly resonates with the user group of the rural market as they associate the importance of light with their daily lives. The product is made of corrugated cardboard sheets. The visuals on the product convey the eco-friendly nature of LED bulbs. Color variations denote the different wattage power of the product.

WHAT'S UNIQUE?

In the current scenario, residents of rural villages in India often rely on bulbs and a wire hanging from the roofs of their mud houses/huts for lighting. To align with this existing structure, our project proposes packaging that includes a lamp extension with a hanging hook. This innovative design not only serves as a packaging solution but also enhances the utility of the product by providing a convenient and familiar way to hang the LED bulb for lighting purposes

Designing for the future, we envision incorporating laser-cut patterns into the packaging itself, allowing for multi-functional use, particularly during festival seasons like Diwali—the festival of lights. These intricate patterns not only serve an aesthetic purpose but also create an opportunity for the packaging to be repurposed as decorative lanterns or candle holders during festive celebrations. This innovative approach adds value to the packaging, making it a memorable and versatile part of the product experience for consumers.
